Second Nature Brands, a CapVest portfolio company, is on a mission to grow from $250M to $1B over the next 4 years through an aggressive combination of M&A and organic growth (increased distribution, e-commerce, and innovation). The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (“FP&A”) and Commercial Finance will be a key direct report of the CFO, responsible for business partnering and cross functional strategic alignment across the enterprise.
This seasoned business leader will be lead enterprise-wide strategic financial planning for both the annual budget and the multi-year strategic plan. The Director, FP&A and Commercial Finance will be able to influence peers inside finance and across the organization, as well as effectively communicate with the executive leadership team, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsor. The leader will need to be able to provide detail financial modeling and analysis, while building a team to support the future organization. As an FP&A expert, the leader will use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models for the strategic plan, annual budget, and monthly forecasts including risks & opportunities, and make recommendations to deliver results and drive improvements.
o This leader will need to be an excellent communicator, capable of “telling our story” to all levels, including the leadership team and Board, as well as the broader organization; and external parties, such as potential M&A targets and future investors.
o This leader will have a large voice in organizational strategy and provide analysis and scenario planning on various transaction, investment, and other options
o Lead the organization in developing and updating its multi-year strategic plan to align with the holding period of CapVest
o Understand and consider various scenarios related to potential acquisitions and other significant business opportunities
o Lead the annual budget process from creating the corporate calendar to developing planning assumptions and final financial modeling
o Lead the monthly forecast updates
o Provide deep risk and opportunity analysis each month
o Model and understand the cash flow impact of our budget and actual results
o Update and improve our monthly financial reporting analysis to provide identification of key business drivers to have a meaning full impact on business results
o Work as the strategic partner to the SNB supporting functions (HR, IT, R&D, etc.) in preparing multi-year and annual strategic financial planning
o Leverage concepts of zero-based budgeting with business partners in building our annual plan
o Create high level mid-month and pre-close viewpoints on performance
o Become the key financial partner with the Chief Customer Officer (“CCO”) and Chief Marketing Officer (“CMO”)
o Work as the right hand to the commercial leadership team in preparing multi-year and annual strategic financial planning
o Create and ensure proper profitability analysis by customer, platform, SKU, etc.
o Provide analysis on effectiveness of marketing spend
o Provide analysis supporting key commercial decisions, including:
o This role is not the leader of overall S&OP, but is a key member of the cross-functional team aligning business planning across the business
o Participate on core S&OP team and ensure consistent assumptions between demand planning, supply planning, and finance
o Analyze risk and opportunities and ensure connectivity to financial forecast
o Ensure financial analysis is complete and accurate to inform key decisions related to S&OP process
o Partner within finance and across the organization to create a process for effective financial inclusion on key cross-functional teams
o Ensure full financial analysis performed on all key projects
o Insert strategic perspective into the process to ensure alignment with multi-year strategic plan
o This role is not the leader of the overall M&A process, but is a key member of the cross-functional team aligning acquisitions with the overall multi-year strategic plan
o Perform and review analysis on potential business synergies
o Assist in leading post-acquisition acquisition integration of new businesses
o Finance – partner with Corporate Controller, Supply Chain Controller, Director of M&A, Director of Procurement, and IT Director
