The Strategic Sourcing Manager - Packaging at Second Nature Brands will help to grow the business by strategically sourcing all the primary and secondary packaging needs for the entire portfolio of brands. This individual will set the sourcing agenda across a variety of packaging mediums, from flexible films, to rigid containers, to paper-based cartons, in order to maximize brand performance as we work to fulfill our vision of Making things better by nourishing people and nature.
Role and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a multi-year sourcing plan, inclusive of strategies to address the spend for all primary and secondary packaging categories across SNB
Build, project manage, and lead RFXs (Requests for Info/Proposal) and develop “should-cost” analysis
Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of key contracts with key suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of packaging materials
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to discover, onboard, and develop new packaging suppliers
Develop and implement a cross-functional framework to monitor the performance of key supplier partnerships
Identify, build, project manage, and execute cost savings initiatives across SNB’s packaging categories, tracking progress versus plan and prior year
Leverage market intelligence to mitigate potential supply or cost risks within the packaging category
Support SNB innovation agenda by seeking cost-effective solutions for new packaging requirements
Serve as primary escalation point to resolve any service, supply, or quality disruptions with any of SNB’s packaging suppliers
Be a thought leader to develop tools, reports, process, and policies to advance the procurement function at SNB
Play an active role in the integration of new packaging spends and supplier relationships as SNB grows and acquires new companies through M&A
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
10 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, contracting, cost modeling, or other related fields
Advanced knowledge of Excel is a must
Must be able to think and work independently in a remote work environment
Must be able to lead cross-functional team members in the pursuit of process and cost improvements
Must be results-driven, possess strong financial acumen, and be intellectually curious
Must have a strong work ethic, sound judgement, and excellent diplomacy and collaboration skills
Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
CPG industry experience preferred; Food manufacturing experience ideal
