Meet Ebony Hunter - Sanitation Team - Second Nature Brands

When did you start working at Second Nature Brands and what do you do?I started working in the Sanitation department in early 2018. I come to work every day because of my coworkers. I have a diverse friend group with people who I would have never had a conversation with if I didn’t work here.

What can you tell us about you?I grew up in Highland Park and graduated from Highland Park High School.I grew up with three older brothers who got me into sports. They treated me as their ball! I was always trying to keep up with them.

What does Pride Month mean to you? It means everything. We are seeing so much change from where we started. It’s also a celebration of acceptance and love.

Tell us about your family. I’m the youngest of four and have three older brothers. My mom, dad and siblings have all been very accepting and supportive of me since day one. They join me for the Pride Parade at Hart Plaza every year which is like a carnival. I’ve even met some of my best friends at Pride.

What do you want people to know about Pride Month and the people it celebrates?  Outside of the label LGBTQ, we’re still people at the end of the day. Be respectful and less judgmental. LGBTQ has made it further regarding being celebrated and having the law on our side. Hopefully soon, Black Lives Matter can catch up to LGBTQ.
